No one knows what they're doing

Breaking news for people of all ages. Everyone is faking it.

My hot take is Monday Scaries are worse than Sunday Scaries. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed AKA your Oura ring tells you you didn’t get enough rest?

Forget it, all of a sudden you’re in a Groundhog Day/The Truman Show nightmare scenario where you don’t know what’s going on but you have to pretend like you do. It airs every single week. Everyone your age is either getting engaged or running half marathons. You want a little treat to get through the day? Iced coffee is $8 + Would-You-Like-To-Leave-A-Tip.

See how easy it is to talk yourself into a spiral these days? In these moments when the world can feel too overwhelming, how do you calm yourself down? What do you do when you feel anxious besides stare at the tiny screen a few inches in front of your face that holds all the answers to the universe?

Days when there are too many things on the to-do list, not enough hours of sleep, and the goals you’re working towards don’t feel as attainable as they once did — it’s easy to get in our heads and spin out of control. If this sounds like something you’ve struggled with, you’re in good company.

Finding a practice you can return to in these moments is the best way to move through it mentally and physically whether that’s exercise, meditation, writing, listening to music, therapy. The list goes on, and you can read more here.

For me, the thing that made me spiral the most was screen time. As much joy and connection social media brings me, I had to delete some apps I was spending more time on than I was off. How funny that as kids we would beg our parents for an hour more on the computer, and now we have to force ourselves off of it. Cue “Ironic” by Alanis Morissette.

This week Not Wasting My Twenties will be partnering with Born Zillennial and Facebook for an awesome (*free*) event in NYC.

We’ll be hanging out at Happy Medium on Wed. 5/1 and creating some cool art from their art menu. This event is currently at capacity, but sharing the waitlist here :)

Where should we bring the next event? Tell us here!

🤝 I’m in my 20s, of course I…

We asked our members to finish this sentence and here’s what we heard back:

Of course I can’t afford to live on my own in this economy so I live with my parents

Of course I have an emotional support dog that has worse anxiety than me

Of course I’m not using my degree and can’t find a full time job

Of course I feel like a child cosplaying as an adult
